Every year as part of the Designers Choice Series, Steiff invite one of their designers to reinterpret classic Steiff articles, while giving free rein to their creativity.

The chosen designer for 2018 is Stefanie Antoniuk, who has been a Steiff designer since 2012. Her Designers Choice creations have been inspired by the painter Gustav Klimt's "Golden Period" and the age of Art Nouveau.

Gustav Teddy Bear is made from the finest golden dupion silk and his elaborate decoration represents Gustav Klimt's "Tree of Life". He has a golden hand-stitched nose and mouth, golden beads and one of his paw pads is made of sequins, while the other is cork, with golden highlights.

Gustav Teddy Bear may well prove to be a great favourite among lovers of Art Nouveau and neeless to say, among fans of Gustav Klimt.

He has the famous gold plated "Button in Ear" and a white label with red writing, showing that he is only limited to 500 pieces worldwide, making a very collectable bear.
